Romans

Unashamed

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Shame is a terrible thing to feel. It can take away hope and joy and can cause us to want to hide away. The power of the gospel of Jesus Christ is such that our shame has been accounted for. All the things that we feel guilty about or embarrassed to even think about have been atoned for. This is the good news we are called to proclaim – the power of God’s salvation.

We should never be ashamed to spread the good news of the gospel. It is for everyone. Everyone needs it and they need to hear about it. Sometimes, especially with family, we decide that we will let our lives be the witness, but is this really good enough? Why do we shy away from verbally witnessing? We want to see our families saved but we don’t want to turn them off by ‘preaching’. God has the ability to guide us and grant us the wisdom to find the balance. Trust Him to put the right words in your mouth – His words – and believe in the power of His word. For He has said:

“so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)
