But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 2 Corinthians 2:14
The sweet smell of incense on the altar was commanded by God. Over and over, we read in Exodus of the spices for the anointing oil and the fragrant incense that Aaron would burn. The aroma that went up was pleasing to God. Likewise, the offering on the altar of Calvary was also fragrant; “as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Eph.5:2).
Every day we have the opportunity to spread the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere; what a beautiful image. The bride in the Song of Solomon is described as a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. We are the bride of Christ and we carry the sweet aroma of Him everywhere we go. We only have to trust in God’s guidance as He leads us to those who need to hear and know His Name.
Let the Lord lead you forward in joy, and allow his beautiful fragrance to spill out on the world around you.
