Encouragement, Hope, Promises

Three Truths, No Lie

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 1 Peter 5:10

This is a verse full of truth, hope and encouragement. The first truth mentioned is the most difficult to hear – during this life, there will be suffering. The second truth offers hope – the suffering will only last a little while. The third truth brings encouragement – after the suffering, God himself will restore and strengthen you.

In being called to his eternal glory we have the assurance that, one way or another, suffering always has an end date. The truth of God’s grace, though, allows for some of the things we suffer through to end this side of heaven. That can be hard to believe when you are in the middle of trying and difficult circumstance and you cannot see an end in sight. What you can believe is God does not lie. When you feel like the ground is crumbling beneath your feet, He has promised that he will restore and establish you, placing you back on a firm foundation.

God remains by our side through everything that this world throws at us. He covers us with his grace which is manifested in the comfort he sends, the strength he gives and the place of refuge that he provides.

For everything there is a season and each of us will have pain to bear, but only for a little while. Be encouraged, for the seasons always change, hope always remains, and God’s promises are always true.
