Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. Hebrews 1:1,2
For hundreds of years the prophets proclaimed the word and promise of God, then, heaven was silent. The angels broke the silence to declare God’s promise once again. At the beginning of the Old Testament, God spoke and the Word brought life. At the beginning of the New Testament, God spoke and the Word became life, and the life was the light of men (John1).
The Word of God is powerful, for through it amazing things happen. Where there was blindness, there is clear vision; where there was ignorance, there is understanding; where there was mourning, there is a song. Fear turns to confidence, weakness to strength and despair to hope. The Word brings freedom, it brings light and it brings life.
The lessons that we learn at the feet of Jesus are invaluable. They teach us the truth of who God is, the truth of the Holy Spirit, and the truth of the kingdom. These truths lead us on a journey of self-discovery, for through the revelation of the Father, Son and Spirit, we also find ourselves. Many people travel the road to enlightenment, but it is only through the Word of God that we discover who we truly are.
Listen to what is spoken by the Son, drink it in and let it fill every part of your being.
