Do not quench the Spirit.1 Thessalonians 5:19
The Holy Spirit is probably the lesser explored person of the Trinity and yet it is the part of God that dwells within every believer. The Holy Spirit has a work to do and God’s word warns us not to suppress that work.
Galatians 5 v16 says to ‘walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh’. If we then quench the Spirit, we allow the flesh to have dominance over us which opens us up to all kinds of danger.
The Spirit guides us into all truth and searches the deep things of God on our behalf. Is this something that we really want to extinguish from our lives? The Holy Spirit attends to all of our spiritual needs and if we subdue him in any way, we then become spiritually starved.
The work of the Spirit within our heart and mind and soul is of the utmost importance and we cannot live holy lives without his active presence. Through Him our knowledge of God increases, scripture becomes clearer and our faith is strengthened.
We need the Spirit to be unhindered in any way so that we can walk this path with courage and boldness, and in the will of God.
