Lessons from Jesus

With Purpose

John 18:37 – “For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth.”

Jesus had come to fulfill the truth of the prophecies, to proclaim the truth of the Father, to explain the truth of the Kingdom and declare the truth of the gospel.

For this purpose I was born…

Thus says the LORD: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed… The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.” Isaiah 52 & 56.

But salvation would come at a cost. Jesus was born in order to bear our griefs and carry our sorrows, to be wounded for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities; to be oppressed and afflicted and led like a lamb to the slaughter. He was to be the final sin offering as he poured out his soul unto death.

For this purpose I have come…

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. Isaiah 60.

He came from his place in the heavens to walk among the people on earth to remove the scales from our eyes so that we no longer have to stumble around in the darkness… to open our ears to the truth of the scriptures so that we would not be lead astray… to open our hearts to the love and compassion of the Father so that we would not remain a broken people. He came to show us the reality of his glorious kingdom. He came to redeem us, to intercede for us and one day take us back to the heavens from which he came.

Until He returns, his purpose remains – that you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
