Daily Strength

1 Thessalonians 4:1

Finally then brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.

This month we have looked at 20 different verses to help guide our daily life as followers of Christ. From keeping our focus clear, our ears open, our hands busy and our tongue in check to the outward expressions of care and compassion as we spread the fragrance of our Lord to all around us.  We will not get all of those things right all of the time, but we never stop pursuing that goal. We continually strive for spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Col1).

Thankfully, we don’t have to try and accomplish all this on our own strength. First of all, we have been given the Holy Spirit as our helper, so allow Him to work and let His gifts grow in your life. Secondly, we have the Lord Jesus, who has gone before and experienced this daily life and all that it entails. He understands the pressures, the conflicts, the relationships, the hurts, the joys and all of those everyday interactions. Thirdly, we have God, our Father – He is our strength through it all.

In this year of lockdowns, closed shops, cancelled events and lots of uncertainty, we have a God who is open all hours with unlimited visitation. Check in with Him daily, take time in His presence and rely on His strength to sustain you in all that you do.

May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Col1).
