For you did not receive the Spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
What a tremendous thought that we have nothing to be afraid of. As we saw in yesterday’s reflection, we are free from judgement, free from punishment and free from fear.
As soon as Adam accepted the fruit of the tree, he sold us into slavery; he sold us to Sin, and Sin is a relentless taskmaster. As soon as we accepted the salvation of God we were released from that bondage. We may serve a new master but we no longer serve as slaves, we serve as sons and daughters of the King and as heirs with Jesus Christ our Lord.
We have been released from the father of lies, destruction and death into the keeping of the Father of truth, wholeness and life.
What a privilege to belong to, and be able to call unto, Abba! Father!”
