Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Have you ever found yourself in the middle of organising a big party, an event or function and you start to feel a bit overwhelmed? You are chatting to someone and they ask how the plans are going and you’re thinking ‘don’t even ask’. The conversation continues and they tell you not to worry, they know someone who can help with a, b and c, just leave with them and they’ll sort it out. A weight has been lifted and things seem a bit more under control.
This journey of life that we are on is one huge event with many facets; lots of different things going on at different times. There’s the education plan, the career plan, the marriage plan, the family plan, the house plan etc, etc. On top of the major life plans we also plan holidays, plan time with friends, plan to buy a new car, planning what to have for dinner.
The list of things that we plan for goes on and on but how do we decide which ones to share with God? Is it just the big, life changing things that we talk to Him about? Are there things that are just to trivial to bother Him with?
The Lord wants us to trust Him with every aspect of our lives, He wants us to commit all of it into His hands. Our plans are nothing without Him anyway.
We may make plans from within the desires of our heart but when we commit those plans to God, it is He who establishes our steps in seeing those plans fulfilled (v9).
