It’s Good to Share

Philemon v6

And I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.

The sharing of your faith… Just as Simon Peter was able to strengthen his brothers and share the knowledge of the Saviour with those that did not know Christ, you too can become effective by sharing of your faith. Encourage other Christians in their walk, share a verse with them, pray with them, be a friend. At the same time, we should also be sharing with those who have not yet found Christ. At times this can be easy and at other times more difficult, (remember my work story?). Maybe you feel that you would love to be able to talk to others about Jesus but you feel nervous or anxious, or even embarrassed. Do not let that get you down. In 2nd Corinthians 4:6 we read, ‘For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

That light is within you, so even when you can’t find the words to say, you can still find the actions to show. You are the light of the world….. let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven (Matt 5). What you do is just as important as what you say. James emphasised that by saying faith without works is no faith at all.

Every good thing that is in us… so show kindness, show gentleness, show patience, show goodness, show love for the sake of Christ. Isaiah chapter 58 reminds the people of God, “If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually”.
