Faith

Strong Roots

Colossians 2:6

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

What a verse! And what a day when we received Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord. Did it feel like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders? A new beginning, a new way of thinking and behaving, a new purpose and direction.

walk in faith… Paul says “as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him”, meaning, you received Christ by faith so now walk with him by faith. Receiving is only the first step of the journey, for now the walk begins.

rooted in faith… We need, of course, to grow as we walk and good growth comes from strong roots. Have you ever tried to remove a plant or shrub with deep roots? It is extremely hard work, so don’t neglect the word of God because it is the source of strengthening your relationship with Christ. Strong roots also make it much more difficult for the devil to unsettle you.

built up in faith… Continue to build your faith in Christ by not just reading the Word but learning the Word. Memorising scripture can be a tremendous benefit in all kinds of encounters and situations.

established in the faith… Let the Word become a part of you that you may be grounded on a firm and stable base .

abounding in thanksgiving… And throughout it all, give thanks to God in all things at all times.
